Balleighan Abbey

On the shore of Lough Swilly, near Manorcunningham, stand the ruins of an old abbey. It is generally believed to have been founded by Hugh Dubh O’Donnell at the beginning of the  sixteenth century. It was also associated with the Franciscan Friary at Kilmacrennan.
